Opening Remarks
Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome to #TheDebate.
I am your host Chimfoun.
Today, we have a very interesting topic up for discussion — The Best Investment. With us in the house are three teams defending different investments.
First off, we’ll kick off this debate with a simple definition of what it means to invest:
To invest means putting valuable resources into something that you expect will give you a personal or financial gain.
With that said, it’s time to introduce the teams that will be proposing solid reasons why their assigned investments are the best.
Team A - Real Estate
Team B - Cryptocurrency
Team C - Self
There’s so much you will take out of this debate and at the end of the day, you’ll get to decide who won.
That’s right. You are the judge of today. So sit back and enjoy.
Team A: Real Estate
Good day to you reader. My name is Charlie.
I am here to propose the motion that real estate is the best investment with the following points
Real estate is a tangible asset. This means that you can see and touch it. What's better than that?
I believe you wouldn't want to invest in something you can't lay your hand on. If you don't, then real estate is the best investment you can make today.
Secondly, land is always appreciating. It's therefore important for you to grab it as early as possible. This ensures you have high returns.
There's a famous quote in our industry:
"The best investment on Earth is earth" — Louis Glickman
This has been proven true by the number of millionaires and billionaires today who made most or part of their wealth by investing in real estate.
Some of these rich individuals include:
The power couple, Jay Z and Beyonce
The other power couple, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian
Basketball superstar, Shaquille O'Neal
Music maestro, Dr. Dre
Football superstar, David Beckham
Former POTUS, Donald Trump
I could keep mentioning names but I believe the already mentioned names can drive home the point that real estate is the best investment.
In the words of the former POTUS, Franklin D. Roosevelt, “Real estate cannot be lost or stolen, nor can it be carried away. Purchased with common sense, paid for in full, and managed with reasonable care, it is about the safest investment in the world.”
On this short note, I believe I've been able to convince and not confuse you that real estate is not only the best investment but also the safest investment you can make today.
Thank you.
Intermission
That was Charlie from Team A. Ladies and Gentlemen please give them a round of applause.
After hearing him speak, I feel like owning landed property.
I'm sure you feel the same way but let's not be quick to do so because we're yet to hear from the other teams.
Alright, back to the debate.
Team B: Cryptocurrency
Good day to you reader. My name is Julia.
I am here to propose the motion that cryptocurrency is the best investment with the following points
I will begin with the definition of cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrency is any form of currency that exists digitally or virtually.
Since the launch of the first cryptocurrency— Bitcoin—Cryptocurrencies have piqued the interest of investors globally.
Talking about Bitcoin, if you invested in bitcoin when it was first launched in 2009, your returns could be in the millions or billions today, because the initial value of the asset was $0.
Daniel Polotsky, CEO of Coinflip, one of the largest bitcoin ATM companies in the U.S said, “Bitcoin has been the best-performing asset of the last decade.”
And he’s not the only one. Here’s what some other outstanding individuals have to say about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies:
“People have made fortunes off Bitcoin, and some have lost money. It is volatile, but people make money off of volatility too.” – Richard Branson
“Bitcoin is the most important invention in the history of the world since the Internet.” – Roger Ver
“Every informed person needs to know about Bitcoin because it might be one of the world’s most important developments.” – Leon Louw
Cryptocurrencies have been around for a long time and in this time, it has made people wealthy - both millionaires and billionaires. Some of these individuals are:
Changpeng Zhao, CEO of Binance
Sam Bankman-Fried, CEO of FTX
Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase
Barry Silbert, CEO of Digital Currency Group
Michael Saylor, CEO of MicroStrategy
These are just a few out of the great number of those whose wealth has increased because they took a big bet on cryptocurrencies.
And that’s why I’m speaking to you today. For you to believe that cryptocurrencies are the best investment you can have. Yes, you may fear the volatility but like Richard Branson said, “...people make money off volatility too.”
Thank you.
Intermission
Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together for Julia and the members of Team B. That was a nice presentation.
Indeed, cryptocurrencies have been making the rounds since their invention. One good thing is that, they are now popular and on the lips of most people.
Lives have been changed through them.
Oh well! I’m not about to start my own debate. I’m only but the anchor of this great event. At this point, get ready to hear from the final team.
Team C: Self
Good day to you reader. My name is Jane.
I’m here to propose the motion that investing in yourself is the best investment with the following points
I’d like to start with the wise words of Robert Kiyosaki, Author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad:
“Before you invest in something, invest the time to understand it.”
Dear reader, I’d like to reveal to you that the reason you are reading this debate now is that you want to know which investment is best for you.
You may leave this page today but if you’re really interested in investing for the future, you will continue to search for other information that will help you decide what to invest in.
In your search for this knowledge, you are investing in yourself. And this knowledge will help protect you from future losses if need be.
To invest in yourself, you want to spend money on things that will put you in a better position to earn more money in the future.
This means spending money on:
Things that will make you smarter
Things that will save you time, and
Things that will save you stress.
Legendary investor, Warren Buffett is a great example of one who invests in himself. Before doing anything or deciding anything, he usually spends a lot of time researching, taking notes, analyzing, and consulting before making a decision.
I’d love to list other examples but I’m afraid I’ll list all the examples my co-debaters have already mentioned in the course of their speech. This is because none of those individuals invested without first taking a bet on themselves.
I would use the following statements to end my speech:
If you invest in real estate, you’re doing so for yourself
If you invest in cryptocurrency, you’re doing so for yourself
If you invest in stocks, you’re doing so for yourself
If you invest in bonds, you’re doing so for yourself
If you invest in mutual funds, you’re doing so for yourself
If you invest in education, you’re doing so for yourself
Whatever you invest in, you’re doing it for yourself. You have the biggest return on investment. You are the best investment.
Thank you.

The three debaters did a very good job and dealt with their topics well, I am definitely convinced that the three are the best investments in the world, and yes why can’t you invest in all ?
